Training for an x ray Technician

To become an x ray technician, special training is required. Training and education are usually offered at a trade school, rather than in a typical college setting. At the very least, training includes how to operate different types of x ray machines (there are both portable and stationary types), how to develop the x ray pictures, and how to properly position patients so that the best possible x-rays can be taken. Additional x ray technician training includes learning how to use other types of radiologic equipment in order to do sonograms, MRIs, CAT scans, and ultrasounds. Being an x ray technician requires a lot of patience and understanding, as well as a polite yet professional demeanor since the patients are frequently in pain or are worried. Patients with a physical inability to lie or stand in the correct position because of an injury or illness is part of the job that especially requires these skills.
